Online voice recorder — free, private, instant

Need a voice memo without installing an app, creating an account, or wondering where the recording went? Press the mic below and talk — a live level meter shows you're being heard, and when you stop, the take is already on your device, ready as WAV or MP3. Nothing streams anywhere: there is no server, no cloud, no account. Ideas, reminders, song sketches, interview backups — record and keep.

How to record

  1. 1Tap the mic and allow microphone access when asked. The timer and live meter start immediately.
  2. 2Speak, then tap again to stop. Playback appears instantly — listen back before downloading.
  3. 3Pick WAV or MP3 and download. WAV is instant and lossless; MP3 is smaller for sharing.

Better-sounding memos

Get close, stay steady

6–12 inches from the mic beats any software fix. Watch the meter — loud green bars, no constant red.

Kill the room

Fans, AC hum, and keyboard clatter all record faithfully. A closet full of clothes is a shockingly good studio.

Trim the edges after

Taps at start/stop? Run the take through our trimmer for a clean in/out.

Frequently asked questions

Is this voice recorder really free?

Yes — unlimited recording, no account, no watermarks. It runs entirely in your browser tab.

Where do my recordings go?

Nowhere but your device. There is no server involved at all — the audio is captured by your browser and downloaded straight to you.

Why does it need microphone permission?

Browsers gate microphone access behind your explicit permission. Grant it once per site; you can revoke it anytime in browser settings.

WAV or MP3 for voice memos?

MP3 for sharing and archiving (tiny files, universal). WAV only if you'll edit the take further in audio software.

How long can I record?

Up to 15 minutes per take, with auto-stop. For interviews and lectures, record in takes and join them with our audio joiner.
